Committee Help Needed

There are 16 operating committees in the Club organization and each has a chairperson in charge of that committee. The Club is trying to establish a back-up for each chairperson to provide committee continuity and act as chairman when the chairman is out of town or otherwise unable to attend meetings, work parties, functions, etc. Some Committees have co-chairs; some don't
We need volunteers!
If you would like to help the Club with planning and organization, please contact Steve Boehm at Stephen.Boehm@verizon.net

New Tractor

Recently, the club purchased a Kubota BX25 tractor. This little workhorse will help the volunteers on Work Party days with the chores they take on. It is also capable of clearing snow. Should we be unfortunate enough to have a repeat of last year's snow falls, the club is now prepared to clear the drive way, parking areas, and access paths without the delays experienced then. It can also operate all the attachments the club has acquired over the past few years. This will lighten the work load of the old Ferguson and give redundancy so that there should be no down time in grounds keeping because of maintenance problems. The Club would like to thank all those members who go the extra mile in selling the club calendars. The funding from those sales helps fund the purchase of these ground maintenance implements.

Carrick-Mingo Shootout

The Carrick- Mingo Shootout League finished its season on August 1. The Club team lost by a little over 1 percentage point - close but no cigar. The trophy that has been in the Clubhouse from winning the league last year has been returned to Mingo - hopefully the Club will get it back next year. The Club thanks all who participated from both clubs. It was a good, fun, competitive season. Their annual picnic was held at Mingo on August 28. The league will start up in May, 2011.

Hunter Safety Course The Fall Hunter Safety Course is scheduled for September 17 and 18. To register, individuals must go the PA Game Commission web site (http://my.registered. com/eventregistration/studentregister/2859) for the times and to register.

Civilian Marksmanship Program (CMP) Shoot

The CMP Hi-Power Shoot is held on the 2nd Sunday of the month at 10:00 am. The CMP program is looking for shooters so if you would like to get involved with this group just attend one of the shoots and give it a try. They shoot M-1 rifles which are provided by the Club. Interest in the program is increasing. If you would like to discuss joining the program, please call Ron Milanek at rontermite@aol.com.

Jr. Rifle Program

The Jr. Rifle Program will start it's basic four-week introductory Wednesday evening course on October 6 and will end on November 3. The cost is $30 for the four weeks with all ammunition, rifles, and the loan of eye and ear protection included. At the conclusion of the introductory course, the participants can continue shooting on Wednesday evenings until April for an additional $30 fee which includes all ammunition, rifles, and the loan of eye and ear protection. Monday Night Recreational Pistol League
The Monday Night Recreational Shoot will resume its recreational shooting on September 13 at 7:30 pm on the indoor 50-foot range. The cost for the 20-week season is $30 for members and $40 for non-members. Persons that can't commit to the entire 20-week period can pay as they go, $3 per night for members and $4 per night for non-members. You will need your favorite firearm, 50 rounds of ammunition - .22 or center fire with a velocity under 1200 fps, and eye and ear protection. The shoot does have a timed and rapid fire segment so a semiautomatic pistol is recommended; however, those with revolvers and speed loaders will have time to complete the lines. To sign up for the Monday Night League, please contact Steve Boehm at Stephen.Boehm@ verizon.net.

Work Party

Work Parties are held on the 3rd Saturday of each month to do maintenance and improvements around the Club. These work parties (Club volunteers) are a critical part of Club operation. Without proper maintenance and an effort to improve the Club, members would find it more and more difficult to use the Club's facilities. The Directors ask everyone who can to donate some time to these work parties. Lunch is provided.
July Work Party

The following members attended the July Work Party: Mark Anania, Steve Boehm, Joe Montuoro, Denny Nill, Bill Szott, Dalton Snitzky, and Casy Snitzky. They replaced the celotex in the indoor pistol range, fixed the outdoor 100-yard range back stop, and cut grass and weeds. Special thanks to Jim Davis for helping build a new scorer's chair at the trap range and to Larry Laggesa and Steve Boehm for removing a rather large tree that had fallen.
August Work Party
The following members attended the August Work Party: Mark Anania, Steve Boehm, Joe Montuoro, and Tom Plappert. They replaced the doors on the big trailer, repaired the gate on the 50-yard range, repaired the fence that was knocked down by a fallen tree, and removed some brush along the fence line. Good job by all!!

Sympathies

Bob Senay's wife, BiBi, passed away on July 22, 2010. She was one of the most pleasant people some of us have ever met and will be dearly missed by all who loved her and knew her. Bob has been a long time member and valued instructor, regularly participating in the Personal Protection Courses at the Club from 1992 to 2003.
