There are 16 operating committees in the Club organization
and each has a chairperson in charge of that
committee. The Club is trying to establish a back-up for
each chairperson to provide committee continuity and
act as chairman when the chairman is out of town or
otherwise unable to attend meetings, work parties, functions,
etc. Some Committees have co-chairs; some don't
We need volunteers!
If you would like to help the Club with planning and
organization, please contact Steve Boehm at

Recently, the club purchased a Kubota BX25 tractor. This little workhorse will help the volunteers on Work Party days with the chores they take on. It is also capable of clearing snow. Should we be unfortunate enough to have a repeat of last year's snow falls, the club is now prepared to clear the drive way, parking areas, and access paths without the delays experienced then. It can also operate all the attachments the club has acquired over the past few years. This will lighten the work load of the old Ferguson and give redundancy so that there should be no down time in grounds keeping because of maintenance problems. The Club would like to thank all those members who go the extra mile in selling the club calendars. The funding from those sales helps fund the purchase of these ground maintenance implements.
The Carrick- Mingo Shootout League finished its season on August 1. The Club team lost by a little over 1 percentage point - close but no cigar. The trophy that has been in the Clubhouse from winning the league last year has been returned to Mingo - hopefully the Club will get it back next year. The Club thanks all who participated from both clubs. It was a good, fun, competitive season. Their annual picnic was held at Mingo on August 28. The league will start up in May, 2011.
The next Calendar Lottery tickets should be available at the October Membership meeting. It will be for January - April 2011.
The CMP Hi-Power Shoot is held on the 2nd Sunday of the month at 10:00 am. The CMP program is looking for shooters so if you would like to get involved with this group just attend one of the shoots and give it a try. They shoot M-1 rifles which are provided by the Club. Interest in the program is increasing. If you would like to discuss joining the program, please call Ron Milanek at rontermite@aol.com.
The Jr. Rifle Program will start it's basic four-week introductory Wednesday evening course on October 6 and will end on November 3. The cost is $30 for the four weeks with all ammunition, rifles, and the loan of eye and ear protection included. At the conclusion of the introductory course, the participants can continue shooting on Wednesday evenings until April for an additional $30 fee which includes all ammunition, rifles, and the loan of eye and ear protection. If you are interested, please contact Jim Warden at 412-480-2212 or Ray Noakes at 724-348-5633.
Work Parties are held on the 3rd Saturday of each
month to do maintenance and improvements around the
Club. These work parties (Club volunteers) are a critical
part of Club operation. Without proper maintenance and
an effort to improve the Club, members would find it
more and more difficult to use the Club's facilities. The
Directors ask everyone who can to donate some time to
these work parties. Lunch is provided.

Bob Senay's wife, BiBi, passed away on July 22, 2010. She was one of the most pleasant people some of us have ever met and will be dearly missed by all who loved her and knew her. Bob has been a long time member and valued instructor, regularly participating in the Personal Protection Courses at the Club from 1992 to 2003.
Members can be alerted promptly to problems at the club (such as the gate malfunctions) and other things that might affect the availability of the ranges (such as boys scout outings or special events) if they have e-mail. If you have an e-mail address the officers can send you such information as soon as they know about it and possibly save members a wasted trip to the range or perhaps give you the solution to a gate malfunction. Please send you e-mail to Stephen.Boehm@verizon.net.
